A valuable addition to any drama curriculum, Acting for Screen exams offer complete preparation for the practical demands of professional screen acting by elevating on-screen technical and performance impact, as well as boosting industry-relevant understanding and expertise.
Using the frame
Candidates learn how to adapt to camera framing through the various performance tasks; from full-body framing highlighting the importance of posture and gesture, to ‘close-up’ where expressions play a critical role.
Listening and responding
The core ability to deliver a convincing performance while listening is at the forefront of the exams. Effectively conveying a character’s emotions without speaking is showcased via the Listening Task, and during the Dialogue Task candidates must bring the rhythm and shape of the conversation to life by responding to ‘read in’ lines.
Presenting to camera
For the Ident Task, candidates address the camera directly. They are encouraged to demonstrate a natural and genuine connection to camera, a skill crucial for self-tapes.
